Script requests

Patient will need to provide the name and dosage of the Medication to Reception staff to pass onto the Doctor.

Women’s Health Care

We provide information, access, counselling and prescription on all types of family planning and contraceptive methods, including medications, Implanon and Mirena. We also perform Cervical Screening Tests.

We provide non-directive pregnancy counselling and can help provide holistic care and support through this time.

Antenatal Care and Postnatal care

We are here to support you throughout your pregnancy until birth and provide support with all areas of parenthood. We provide immunisations, six and eight week baby and mother checks and guidance at every stage of life.

Men’s health

Our doctors are well-trained in providing support with a number of non-judgemental health issues in men.
These include, but are not limited to:

  • Prostate

  • Reproductive organ concerns

  • Cardiovascular disease

  • Diabetes

  • Blood pressure

  • Fertility concerns

  • General health concerns.

Children’s Health

We are pleased to offer comprehensive children’s health care at Balcatta Medical Group. Our doctors are approachable, kid-friendly and are happy to help with all areas of children health - from the age of 0 to 17!

Adolescent medicine

We are pleased to offer assistance and help in all facets of Adolescent medicine, including physical and mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety Anorexia Nervosa/Bullimia and other eating disorders.

Skin procedures

Some of our doctors provide minor surgical procedures under local anaesthetic, after an initial consult. Some of these include.:

  • Wart removal

  • Mole removal

  • Removal of skin lesions for diagnosis and further referral if necessary

  • Abscess incision and drainage

  • Removal of foreign bodies from ears

  • Suturing of minor lacerations

Chronic disease management

Our doctors are well trained to coordinate your care across all health providers and professionals and to develop an individualised care plan and goals directed at a whole-of-person approach to care. These are often performed by our Practice Nurse. In certain circumstances, Medicare-rebatable referrals can be made to allied health services (for example a physiotherapist, podiatrist, occpational therapist, dietician).

These plans can take up to an hour, so please let Reception know if you are hoping to book an appointment for this.

Aged care management

Our doctors are well trained and enjoy the management of aged care, including chronic diseases, complex medication reviews, preventative immunisations and collaboration with allied health, pharmacy and other medical specalists to ensure your care is coordinated and your wishes and values are respected.

Mental health

Our doctors are well equipped to discuss any mental health issues at any age with a supportive and multidisciplinary approach, including if appropriate, a Mental Health Care Plan, which under certain circumstances can provide a rebate towards psychological services.

Minor urgent care procedures

  • Plastering in certain circumstances for small fractures

  • Suturing of minor lacerations

Iron Infusions

All our doctors provide iron infusions. You will require an initial consult with your doctor to discuss this treatment and book this procedure. The entire process will take around 60 minutes.

Immunisations

We provide immunisations and subcutaneous immunotherapy prescribed by your Immunologist for patients of any age.

Medical examinations and clearences

Medical examinations and clearances do not attract a Medicare rebate and the cost of these examinations must be paid on the day. Kindly bring all paperwork on the day of this examination.

Transcultural healthcare

Balcatta Medical Group is proud to offer non-discriminatory, transcultural health care to all our patients.

At present, we have a doctor who speaks Kurdish and Arabic. This may change with time!

Spirometry

All our doctors provide Spirometry. You will require an initial consult with your doctor to discuss this treatment and book this procedure. The entire process will take around 1 hour.

Spirometry is a common office test used to assess how well your lungs work by measuring how much air you inhale, how much you exhale and how quickly you exhale. Spirometry is used to diagnose asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other conditions that affect breathing.
